The Art of Sitting

Lucia has been working on independent sitting. Seeing the world from a whole different point of view.
The beginning of our venture. Note how Annie's mad soccer skills save the day. A true soccer mom.

Sitting and stuffing the mouth full of bib. That takes practice.

Sitting with the protection of her Frog Prince behind her just waiting in anticipation to catch her . . .

. . . but sometimes he misses.

Sitting with one eye can be tricky.

Sitting & reaching for Nubbs.

Watching her train chug by . . .

. . . and it keeps on chugging.

This sitting thing is much easier now.

Lucia's first sitting experience in a public venue: the shopping cart.

Leaving on a Jet Plane

Annie & Lucia went to Michigan. Lucia enjoyed her first plane ride.

We had our calendar booked with fun stuff to do. We went shopping with Gammy, saw Lucia's cousins, aunts & uncles, visited Aunt Mary's school, visited EMU, carved pumpkins at Greenfield Village, attended a wedding, and shared dinner with friends.
Lucia keeping track of all her stuff at the airport.
We found our seat.

Pumpkin carving at Greenfield Village. Lucia carved her pumpkin to look just like the face on her pumpkin hat.
We enjoyed dinner with Kelly & Shannon.

We had a great time in Michigan, though we wished Rojelio could have joined us. Next time for sure.

numm numm numm

Today was the big day. Lucia's first experience with food.
The menu: organic whole grain rice cereal mixed with a splash of mother's milk.

We expected it to be a trial run so she could get the idea of food being presented to her in a new way, though we were surprised at how well she did. She dug right in and finished the whole bowl, which was about 1.75ounces. We were even more shocked when she asked us to pass salt! Oh that Lucia.

After a couple days of plain old rice cereal she enjoyed a nice tasty frozen banana for dessert.

. . . so big.

Lucia is . . . so big.
To commemorate Lucia's 5-month birthday we played a little dress up.

Lucia today wearing the preemie size diaper that she wore as a newborn.

Wearing one of her preemie outfits from back in the day. Preemie diaper on the right, current diaper on the left.At birth Lucia was 5lbs 8oz and 19 inches. At her well child visit 2-weeks ago she was 13lbs 10oz and 24.5inches. It's amazing how much and how fast she has grown in these five short months.

Modeling Debut

Lucia excelled at her first modeling gig. We are so proud of her. To see her publishing click on the link. http://www.framehuggers.com/photo_gallery.htm.

We really think she pulled off the look better than all the other models. She is so fierce. Way to go Lucia!

Unk

Lucia's Unk (Andrew) and Aunt Janet** came for a visit.
Lucia had a great time playing with both of them.
Rojelio also had a great time finally having someone to compete against on the XBOX 360. Look at those intense game faces. Annie enjoyed being the little sister and walking as slow as she could in front of the TV while they were playing . . . oh the good ole days . . . at least this time no one punched her. Too bad there's no controllers to unplug anymore or a reset button the could "accidentally" be pushed. Thanks for the visit.

Project . . . DONE

Lucia's room is finally complete. With the move it took a little longer than we would have liked . . . but she said it was well worth the wait.
The biggest job Annie had was replacing the ceiling light. She took down this nasty ceiling fan & rewired a much more modern & simple light. Good-bye dust & bug carcases.

Here's a 360-degree view of Lucia's room.
A border of frames on the wall
(eventually these will have family pictures in them).
Wall decals at Lucia's level.
Changing table with drawers & storage bins (LOVE IT!).
Curtains Annie made with light cancelling shade behind.

Colorful carpet.
Blue turtle hamper & diaper pail behind.

Continued frame border.
Awesome blue crib with Rainforest mobile & sassy mirror.

Second window.
Storage unit for books & toys.
Radio/CD player, Kermit & night light.
Red fish basket for stuffed toys.

"I heart Lucy" sign gammy made out of Duplos.
Closet with decals at Lucia's level.
Donald Duck wet paint sign.
(Annie & her Grandma had "stolen" while at Disney World in 1994)
Hook for towel, coat, etc.
Lucia level mirror & wall decals.

This is by far our favorite room in the house. We really enjoy hanging out & playing in Lucia's haven.
