Today, January 20, 2009, marks a very important event in our lives.
It was a Tuesday. It started as a day like every other. There was a happy and active baby in the house and a mother getting the daily house work done.
The active baby was placed in the safe haven of her crib while the mother went to retrieve the laundry from the basement. Upon the mother's return she discovered the baby's lair was no longer a place of security. The baby had proven her skills were up to par and could no longer be left to explore her world as is.
Upon the mother's return she found the baby wanting to be reacquainted with her toys that lie waiting on the floor.
The baby seemed to be pleased with herself and her newly found skills, unaware of the dangers that lurk beneath.
The father entered the scene accompanied by his toolbox. The baby's mattress was lowered to a more appropriate height.
The upward bound baby was pleased with her newly designed harbor . . .
. . . and continued to work on her graceful finesse.
January 20, 2009 started out to be a day like any other, but turned into a day like no other. We will always remember it as a day of change . . . the day we had to lower Lucia's crib mattress . . . oh yeah . . . and the day our country inducted a new president.
