Reuse, Reduce . . . Shake!

Annie was going through Lucia's closet.
What to do with all those milk storage bottles we got from the hospital when Lucia was in the NICU . . .

Throw them away? Recycle them? Reuse them?
After a scavenger hunt for shakables throughout the house, homemade shakers were born. Introducing beans, rocks, rice, couscous, green water & oil, buttons, & kosher salt. The green water & oil seems to be Lucia's favorite. They are the perfect size for her little hands.

These have quickly become some of Lucia's most played with toys. The lids were affixed with loctite glue for added safety.
Lesson: You don't have to spend any money to make a baby happy.

Matt started shaking his spoon and saying "sha, sha" when Lucia started shaking. Shake is his new word and he love to get to say it.

When I first started looking at this day in your blog, I was thinking..."hey I'll take those bottles for Mason" but then to see your creativity by making the shakers, I decided I would store all mine when we get done! She looks like she's having a blast
