MY DAUGHTER IS 3 MONTHS AND HAS A HEMANGIOMA IN THE SAME SPOT AS YOUR DAUGHTERS I WAS WONDERING IF THEY GAVE HER TREATMENT OR IF IT TOOK ITS OWN COURSE. SHE DOESNT SEE THE DR. FOR 3 WKS IM AFRAID IF THEY DONT DO ANYTHING NOW IT WILL IMPAIR HER VISION. DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE SINCE YOU HAVE ALREADY BEEN THRUOGH THE PHASES.
Lucia was watched very closely by a pediatric opthamologist. She didnt have any direct treatment to the hemangioma, but did wear glasses (& some patching) because the hemangioma was causing an astigmatism in that eye. We felt comfortable with the wait & see method with how closely she was being watched by the opthamologist (also my husband is a physician). It started to shrink on its own & the color improved greatly. She just turned 2 and you can hardly tell she has it, it's just a little puffy & has no discoloration. The doctor was really impressed with the progress. As of March she no longer needs to wear her glasses. Since the hemangioma shrunk her astigmatism has deceased to the point where it is hardly detected & is no longer affecting her vision.
We were going to treat the hemangioma once it started to really affect her ability to open her eye fully to be able to see (when her whole pupil wasnt exposed), but thankfully it never got to that point.
Annie is a speech-language pathologist, though currently is working as a SAHM. Rojelio is an assistant professor at Baylor College of Medicine School of Tropical Medicine. We haven been married almost 6 years & have two terrific kids Lucia & Emilio.

They are SO cute! Emilio looks like he might be getting blond hair? Although, I once thought the same of both of my brunettes...ha
I LOVE the monkeys!
