Time for a change . . .

Today, January 20, 2009, marks a very important event in our lives.

It was a Tuesday. It started as a day like every other. There was a happy and active baby in the house and a mother getting the daily house work done.

The active baby was placed in the safe haven of her crib while the mother went to retrieve the laundry from the basement. Upon the mother's return she discovered the baby's lair was no longer a place of security. The baby had proven her skills were up to par and could no longer be left to explore her world as is.

Upon the mother's return she found the baby wanting to be reacquainted with her toys that lie waiting on the floor.

The baby seemed to be pleased with herself and her newly found skills, unaware of the dangers that lurk beneath.
The father entered the scene accompanied by his toolbox. The baby's mattress was lowered to a more appropriate height. The upward bound baby was pleased with her newly designed harbor . . . . . . and continued to work on her graceful finesse.

January 20, 2009 started out to be a day like any other, but turned into a day like no other. We will always remember it as a day of change . . . the day we had to lower Lucia's crib mattress . . . oh yeah . . . and the day our country inducted a new president.

This Old Man

Lucia gave her gamps a double puck harmonica for Christmas.
She enjoyed the "old mans" harmony (pun intended).

Snow Mound

When we were in Michigan Lucia experienced the thrill of snow . . . not to mention the thrill of sub-zero temperatures.
Outside gammy & gamps' house waiting to catch the tow-rope up the snow mound.
Daddy met Lucia at the top of the mound.

Lucia nearly peed her pants after her first run! After about 5-minutes rosy cheeks & a red nose appeared. Time to go in for a mocha latte.

Holiday Happenings

Getting into the holiday spirit with gammy's red hat.
We celebrated St. Nick's Day on December 6. Lucia put her shoes out in the hallway the night before. Since she was a good girl St. Nicholas left her a present in them.
Decorating the Christmas tree.
Lucia's visit with Santa. Not the happiest holiday experience, but a good first visit.
On Christmas Eve we opened presents gammy and gamps sent.

Christmas morning.
Stocking time!
Lucia's first Christmas.
Oh the glorious presents.
It took us three hours to open all the presents.
We took our time stopping to play with each toy and for breakfast.
It was a very fun morning.
Froggy Frenzy.Salmonella.
The holidays are soo sweet!

Hallway Hi-jinks

What could be better than some hallway hi-jinks with your mama and papa on a Saturday morning.

Second Annual Turkey Fry

We had our Second Annual Turkey Fry this year. Gammy, Gamps and Auntie Mary came to join in on the festivities.
Gamps and Rojelio dumping in the oil.

Gamps getting the fire extinguisher ready "just in case."

16.52lb turkey with the Cajun rub before frying.

The oil is ready. About to drop the turkey.
There she goes. sizzle. sizzle. sizzle
Our fry daddy.

The bird is cooked.

Lucia had her first Thanksgiving turkey dinner.
Oh how good it was!

Brief Cameo

Many fans of The Inner Loop have been inquiring about Whoozit.
Well you'll be happy to know Whoozit is doing well and loved more than ever. Since Whoo-Whoo has rigorous periods of activity he often has to take naps in order to recover for his next bout of fun.
Lucia & Whoo-Whoo
He gets lots of hugs . . .

. . . and kisses.
Whoozit is very much loved.

"I'd like to thank all my fans for your concerns and inquiring about me. I continue to be happy with my family, though wish my daily kisses weren't so wet." -- Whoo-Whoo Whoozit
